Tommy Dorsey recorded “Song of India” on this day back in 1937. One of the kings of the Big Band era, Dorsey and his orchestra scored 286 charting hits, including 17 number ones.
This clip is from the 1941 film Las Vegas Nights which is notable since it marked the big screen debut of Frank Sinatra. Sinatra’s last acting credit came for a guest spot on 80’s sitcom Who’s The Boss. Go figure.
