[Song] of the Day – Eminem – Stan (Featuring Dido)

On this day back in 2000, Eminem hit No.1 on the UK Singles chart with his tale of an obsessed fan, “Stan,” with a little help from a sample from Dido’s song “Thank You.” Though the years, “Stan” has been praised as one of Eminem’s best songs. Among its many honors, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it the #296 song on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Dido’s song “Thank You” meanwhile was also a huge hit, and became her signature song, rising to its top chart position at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April of 2001.
