Johnny Ramone Tribute – 10th Anniversary – Hollywood Forever Los Angeles

It’s that time of year again when we celebrate the life of punk rock legend Johnny Ramone at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Johnny Ramone was, of course, the famed guitarist, and one of the founding members, of New York all-time punk godfathers, the Ramones. He died in 2004 at the age of 55, following Joey and Dee Dee to the grave. With the death of Tommy Ramone earlier this year, all of the original members of the Ramones are gone now, but their music will surely live on for generations to come. Through the years the Johnny Ramone Tribute has become quite a star studded event as many have turned out to pay their respects to one of rock and roll’s most respected and influential greats. Last year’s event featured appearances by  the cast of the 1990 comedy Cry-Baby including filmmaker John Waters as well as the film’s stars, Johnny Depp, Traci Lords, and Riki Lake.

This year’s tribute event, held annually at the best goddamn cemetery in the world, Hollywood Forever, will feature special guests including Fred Armisten (Saturday Night Live and Portlandia) Duff McKagen( Guns and Roses and Velvet Revolver) Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) and musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie (White Zombie) who will be screening his 2005 horror film, the Devils Rejects. Johnny Ramone, always the horror aficionado, would have undoubtedly loved this gathering in a graveyard to celebrate his life.
