Hard to believe that it actually happened, but this song , “The Land of Make Believe” by the Bucks Fizz, was #1 on the UK Charts on this day back in 1982. The band was specifically formed to compete on the 1981 Eurovison Song Contest, which they won, a precursor of the shows of today like The Voice and American Idol. Appearing on Top of the Pops, “The Land of Make Believe” is made extra magical here with some vintage dance moves and a body builder and a guy eating fire and a smoke machine and some other stuff that well…you just have to see it I guess.
