ramones37 seven years ago today, the Ramones changed the world of music with their self titled album, Ramones. Along with the albums Leave Home and Rocket To Russia (the second and third albums respectively) Ramones absolutely blazes with the speed and ferocity of its attack. And it’s fun! The Ramones would go on to inspire a legion of other bands in rock, punk, post punk, hardcore, heavy metal, grunge and alternative, converting millions of adherents to the god of three chords. In 2002, Spin Magazine ranked the Ramones as the second greatest band in history behind the Beatles. Hey Ho, Let’s Go!

Havana Affair

This is a live version of the song “Havana Affair” from the first album, performed here during the Ramones’ 1977 concert on New Year’s Eve at the Rainbow Theater in London, a spy vs. spy story of a former banana farmer who is co-opted by the CIA. “Sent to spy on a Cuban talent show, first stop Havana-go-go.” Genius.
