Chris Bonno – The Art of Comedy

by Tony Shea

in ART VS ART, PICTURES

Bonno Artist shot by Cat Gwynn copyChris Bonno is a multi-hyphenate comedian, actor and artist who  lives in Los Angeles, California. Originally from Houston, Texas, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art, with Honors, at the University of Texas at Austin. A professional comedian, he was once named the “Funniest Person in Austin” and has spent many years touring with Hal Sparks, Rick Shapiro and John Fugelsang among many others. He’s illustrated for National Lampoon Magazine, the Writer’s Guild of America Magazine, the LA Weekly and the Austin Chronicle to name a few. Currently, he produces his own experimental comedy web series Electric Bonnoland. To learn more about Chris, including how to commission artwork, please visit him at www.chrisbonno.com.

As a painter, there is a sense of humor to Chris’s work that is fun and engaging. Chris has a kind of electric style, using broad brush strokes and vibrant colors in escalating degrees of technique, from the Van Gogh inspired “Mickey by Vinnie” to enhanced celebrity images newly imbued with different emotional shades, like his smolderingly sensual portrait of “Sexy Conan,” which is the the number one art piece at teamcoco.com. With all that said, I am pleased to present the work of Chris Bonno for our inaugural art show.
